Locations at 325 East Main Street, in Grand Prairie Texas and 13126 State Highway 198 South, in Payne Springs Texas, Don Juan’s Romantic Mexican Food has been selling Hot and Fresh Tex-Mex since 1966!
Don Juan’s opened its doors in September of 1966 as the first restaurant with a drive-thru in Grand Prairie!
In 1966, Tex-Mex was unheard of, so it was Romantic to bring your significant other to the new hip restaurant that sold food you’d never heard of! In the beginning, we even had to tell people how to eat a burrito! Through the years, we haven’t changed very much outside of adding things like Sweet Tea, Pico de Gallo, Daily Specials, and Rice, all of which have been around long enough now that people may not know they weren’t on the original menu!
Today, we use the same recipes and procedures that our founder, Don Chiavario, brought with him from California. We make our food the old-fashioned way, and in small batches, so it’s always fresh and always hot. Combined with our amazing customer service and reasonable prices, it isn’t a surprise Don Juan’s is a staple in the Grand Prairie community!
In 1989 John Parker bought the restaurant from then owner, and his brother, Jim Parker, and has since grown it to be what it is today, with two locations ran by two of his three sons, Mason and Ethin. As a small, family-owned and operated restaurant, we work hard to bring the best food and service as possible.
So, whether you’re a Grand Prairie native who might have driven past our little restaurant a thousand times without stopping to try it, or a new member of our amazing community, we hope you come by to eat some classic Tex-Mex, and say hello to whichever Parker happens to be there at the time. And when you’re good and full, from our family to yours, we hope you Hurry Back!
